Certificate in Organizational Leadership and Communication

OLC Certificate Required Courses (12 Credits Total)
Choose six credits (two classes) from the following options:
- PSAS 300* – Introduction to Organizational Leadership and Communication (3 credits)
- Choose three credits (one class) from the following options:
- CJ 390 – Communication in Interpersonal and Cultural Contexts (3 credits)
- CJ 391 – Communication in Organizations: Perspectives and Applications (3 credits)
- CJ 392 – Communication in Teams and Groups (3 credits)
*PSAS 300 must be taken first
Choose six credits (two classes) from the following options:
- CJ 390**
- CJ 391**
- CJ 392**
- PSB 321 – Business Communication for Today's Workforce (3 credits)
- PSB 350 – Principles of Management and Leadership (3 credits)
- PSB 360 – Marketing and Selling Your Ideas (3 credits)
- PSB 370 -- Human Resource and Legal Issues in the Workplace (3 credits)
- PSB 380 – Accounting for the Workplace.

Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirement: To receive the OLC certificate a grade of C+ or higher is required for each course and a minimum GPA of 2.5 across all coursework in the certificate.
Certificate Application Requirements and Steps
STEP ONE: Prior to starting the program, applicants must have earned at least 30 credits from an accredited college or university
STEP TWO: Contact Dr. Kate Lang (Academic Director) to review your eligibility for the program. You do NOT need official tanscripts (copies are fine) and there is no application fee. Dr. Lang can be reached at: langkh@uwec.edu or 715-836-4765
*STEP THREE: Provided that Dr. Lang has approved your eligibility to pursue the OLC Certificate and advised you on the courses you should take, apply to the program at: https://apply.wisconsin.edu/.
*STEP FOUR: Follow these application instructions:
- After you've logged in at https://apply.wisconsin.edu/ select "UW-Eau Claire" from the drop down menu
- Continue to answer application questions as prompted
- On the "Reason for Applying" screen, select "Special student at the undergraduate leve
- On the "Applying As" screen, select "Undergraduate Special Student-Continuing Education"
- On the "Campus Specific/Personal Information" page, complete the information to the best of your ability. It is your choice as to whether or not you fill out some of this information
- Submit your application
*STEP FIVE: Once you have submitted your application, contact Phil Huelsbeck at huelsbpj@uwec.edu so that he can confirm receipt of your application and request that your $100 deposit be waived.
*STEP SIX: You will receive registration instructions over email and at your physical mailing address.
