Is this program accredited?
The Bachelor of Professional Studies and Comprehensive Major in Organizational Leadership and Communication is a fully accredited degree program. This program is approved by the University Wisconsin of Board of Regents and accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
What are the admission requirements?
If you completed an Associate of Arts and Science Degree with the University of Wisconsin Colleges, you may apply directly to the program. If you completed an Associate of Arts or Associate of Sciences degree at another academic institution, please contact us to find out how that program may transfer.

You are eligible for admission to this degree if you have completed at least 60 semester credits of transferable coursework with a 2.0 or better grade point average (GPA).

Are there any course prerequisites?
Some Bachelor of Professional Studies courses have prerequisites. If you have not completed some or all of the prerequisites as part of an associate degree or prior coursework, you will need to complete them before taking specific courses. UW campus equivalents or other college/university equivalents may be substituted.

What are the application requirements?
You must apply to the Bachelor of Professional Studies program through UW-Eau Claire. Use the Online Admission Application and submit your nonrefundable $44 application fee,* as well as your official college and high school transcripts.
*The fee is not required if the last institution that you attended was a two-year UW Colleges campus. The fee is required if you are transferring between UW System four-year campuses or if you have never attended a UW System campus.
Do I need to take the ACT or SAT?
If you have an associate degree or equivalent coursework, or are over the age of 22, the ACT or SAT is not required.
How do I know whether my credits will transfer?
Courses completed at other colleges or universities that have descriptions closely matching the descriptions of courses taught at the home campus will generally transfer as direct course equivalents.
If you have completed coursework at a University of Wisconsin or Wisconsin Technical College System campus, you can use the University of Wisconsin Transfer Information System to evaluate how your credits might transfer to your Bachelor of Professional Studies program.
Once you have been admitted as a transfer student and confirm your intention to enroll, UW-Eau Claire will conduct a complete credit evaluation.

UW-Eau Claire has developed this degree program in collaboration with UW-Extension.
Is this an online program?
The program is completely online; there are no on-campus meetings or requirements. Books and materials are handled through an online bookstore.
Are there specific enrollment/start times?
Start the program at the beginning of any semester. Classes are eight weeks long so you can fit two classes into the time frame of a regular semester.

Courses in the Bachelor of Professional Studies program are taught by UW-Eau Claire faculty.
How long does it take to complete a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree?
It depends on how many courses you take in a semester. Students are required to take each of the 20 courses in the curriculum (60 credits). 60 credits are required. Courses are offered in the fall, spring, and summer sessions, so it would be possible to complete the degree in two years, if you take full credit loads each semester.
If you need to complete your first two years before applying for the BPS, you may do so through UW Colleges Online, at any of the 26 UW campuses, or approved colleges or universities in Wisconsin or the United States. Before trying to enroll in the BPS program, please contact your BPS adviser.

How long do I have to earn my degree?
There is no completion deadline. You may take as many semesters as you need to earn your degree.

What are the tuition and fees?
Tuition for the Bachelor of Professional Studies degree is a flat fee of $390 per credit beginning fall semester 2012. Tuition rates are subject to an annual increase. Rates for the 2013-2014 academic year will be posted following approval at the July 2013 UW System Board of Regents meeting. All courses are three credits. There are no additional course or program fees. For example, a three-credit course will cost $1,170 (three credits X $390 per credit). Textbooks and software (if needed) are purchased separately and are not included in the credit tuition cost.
What subjects will the program cover?
The Bachelor of Professional Studies program covers leadership; communication (written, oral, and business); data management and data-driven decision making; ethics; local and global history; the workforce in art, literature, and music; sociology of work; project management; science and society; marketing; human resource and legal issues; workplace accounting; economic analysis of urban areas; and psychology.
What courses are required?
You are required to take each of the 20 courses in the curriculum. There are no electives, and, because of the unique nature of the program, no other courses may be substituted for courses in the curriculum. A list of courses is available here.
Can credits from another institution transfer to be used toward this degree?
To graduate, your last 30 semester credits must be taken through UW-Eau Claire and 23 of those credits must be taken at the senior level. Additionally, you will need to maintain a GPA average of 2.00.
The 20 BPS courses are all required; none are electives.
Are internships a required part of the program?
Students are encouraged to participate in internships that provide opportunities for them to apply what they learn in work or field settings, but no internships are required.
